A cinematic masterpiece in storytelling, the explosive first book in the Torch Trilogy is the hottest release of the decade! They are coming for those who shine . . . Don''t be deceived by Northaven''s prettiness: its white-wash houses, its quaint harbour, its picturesque sea views. In truth, its inhabitants are tearing each other apart. All because some have developed telepathy, or ''songlight'' as it is known. In other countries, songlight is celebrated, but in Brightland it is feared. All those with songlight are declared unhuman. Their powers stripped from them or brutally contained. Elsa Crane has lived in grave danger since her songlight emerged. Only Rye Turner, her brother''s best friend, knows what she is. But then, whilst out on her fishing boat, Elsa is visited by the spectre of a girl from Brightlinghelm, whose songlight is even more powerful than her own . . . Kaira Casey brings visions from the city, showing that perhaps all is not well with the regime that would have them destroyed. Then the great hero, Heron Mikane, returns from the war with death in his shadow, rebellion in his heart and news that will change Elsa''s life forever.
