• Train your eye to spot visual triggers in everyday street scenes.
• Find strong composition instinctively, when there’s no time to think.
• Work with light, color and shadow to build more compelling frames.
• Photograph people ethically and confidently without losing authenticity.
• Build patience and creative focus when nothing seems to be happening.
• Edit and select your strongest images, developing a recognizable personal style.
• Stay motivated even when creative blocks hit.

This is Mike’s masterclass, revealing his key secrets and tips for the very first time.

1. NOW IS THE TIME - Street photography isn’t new but there’s more to see than ever.
2. SEE FOR YOURSELF - We’re all unique, so no one shoots street photography like you.
3. THE BEST CAMERA - Pack only essentials and choose a camera you don’t want to put down.
4. AND YOU’RE OFF - Every image starts with a ‘trigger’. Discover yours to begin the game.
5. URBAN PLAYGROUND - The streets are paved with puzzles. Figure out how to fit the pieces together.
6. PEOPLE WATCH - Set your dos and don’ts – then step back while the drama unfolds.
7. EXPLORE EDGES - Seek out great photographs hiding among the in-between times and places.
8. CITY AS CHARACTER - Wherever you find yourself in the world, embrace what makes it distinctive.
9. BREAK THE RULES - Know the conventions of composition but be open to the unexpected.
10. FRESHEN UP - Test yourself by imposing limitations to keep your creative cogs turning.
11. SPARK STORIES - Ignite the viewer’s imagination, whether through clarity or confusion.
12. AUTHENTICITY WINS - Perfection is overrated. The photographs we want to look at again feel real.
13. MIX AND MATCH - Many of the strongest street photographs deploy repetition, contrast or both.
14. BE SELECTIVE - Editing is a whole art form in itself. Pick images that speak in your voice.
15. PRINT MEANS MORE - Digital has its uses but nothing beats holding photography in your hands.
16. SHARE WORK - When people see your photographs, they breathe new life into them.
17. BUILD COMMUNITY - To level up your photography, forge links with others, either online or IRL.
18. STILLS IN MOTION - Creating videos about the way you work makes you a better photographer.
19. SELF PUBLISH - Don’t wait around to get your images into zines and books. Do it yourself.
20. ARCHIVE LIFE - You are a street photographer. Your job is to chronicle history in the making.
