Spotlight on the roll-bar convertible: Get ready for the book dedicated exclusively to the most creative body variant of the Porsche 911. What began in the 1960s as a clever response to rising safety concerns quickly became a brand in its own right the archetype of a new vehicle category. At the same time, Targa was an idea that went far beyond technology and design from the very beginning: a statement about the balance between freedom and support. A striking roll bar frames the freedom, while the removable roof opens it up. Porsche Targa explores the motivation behind the concept, reveals its origins, follows the evolution of eight generations of the 911, and traces how the Targa idea was transferred to its sibling models the 914, the Carrera GT and the 918 Spyder. We dig deep into the archives, celebrate period color and style, and browse historical albums from the Targa Florio endurance race the namesake inspiration for what was once marketed as a safety convertible. Porsche Targa is a sophisticated reference work, created in collaboration with the Porsche Museum.

Created in collaboration with the Porsche Museum. Complete history of all Targa models. Historical photos and current productions.
