Iva Plee is a senior research associate at the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research in Zagreb, Croatia. Her research interests include ethnography of writing and correspondence, methodology of ethnographic fieldwork, production of heritage, and ethnography of migration and refugeehood.

Tea koki is a research advisor at the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research, Croatia. Her academic interests include feminist and gender anthropology, anthropology of work, and ethnography of migration.

Shaped by the criminalization of migration and control over movement, the Balkan Route has emerged as a key site of border violence and migrant resistance along the southeastern edges of the European Union.
