Klappentext

Psycho-Oncology in Cancer Survivorship and Health Promotion provides expert guidance and clinical management strategies focused on the post-treatment phase of cancer care. Written in a practical handbook style, it addresses a wide range of challenges faced by survivors, including psychological concerns such as anxiety, adjustment disorders, fear of recurrence, and depression. It also explores cognitive impairment, practical matters like returning to work or study, financial stressors, and the impact on carers, partners, and families. Additional topics include the unique needs of childhood, adolescent, and young adult cancer survivors, as well as rehabilitation, health promotion, self-management, and the spiritual and cultural dimensions of care. Each chapter outlines presenting symptoms, differential diagnoses, and approaches to screening and assessment, enabling clinicians to develop detailed formulations and comprehensive management plans tailored to individual needs. The reference tool is designed to support accurate diagnosis and effective intervention across a variety of psycho-oncological scenarios. Concluding sections in each chapter address professional and service-related considerations, including ethical dilemmas, legal obligations, cultural sensitivities, and workforce development. As part of the Psycho-Oncology Care: Companion Guides for Clinicians series, this concise reference is ideal for oncology specialists, psycho-oncologists in training, nurse consultants, and allied health professionals. Suitable for intermediate to advanced practitioners, it can be used independently or alongside formal oncology and psycho-oncology training programs.
