The present study provides a new perspective in the line of fertility and demographic research by analyzing gender discrimination in Pakistani society. This study investigates how, in Pakistan, social exclusion of women is linked with the phenomenon of gender discrimination and host of other socio-cultural disparities. Hopefully, it will encourage researchers to move beyond examining the status of women and to facilitate discussions on how to ensure women s participation as active members of society. Various studies have examined status of women and its relation with the productivity but this study provides framework of analysis that could improve the status of women by ensuring women s participation in all walks of life. This study would help policy makers to evolve such policies which could help improve the conditions of women in Pakistani society.
