It is found in most of Europe (except Iceland, Croatia and Greece). It is also found in the Near East. The wingspan is 14-20 mm. Adults are on wing from July to August. The larvae feed on Quercus species. They roll a leaf of their host and feed within.A moth is an insect closely related to the butterfly, both being of the order Lepidoptera. Moths form the majority of this order; there are thought to be 150,000 to 250,000 different species of moth (about ten times the number of species of butterfly), with thousands of species yet to be described.
