Essential Concepts in Sediment Transport Processes

Klappentext

The essential concepts in sediment transport processes are elucidated in this all-inclusive book. It presents a variety of topics related to sediment transport. It extensively discusses sediment dynamics, thereby helping in understanding effective management of aquatic environment. Economic and environmental consequences, especially in cases associated with anthropogenic involvement, have also been discussed. The fate of sediment movement and transport is often judged by tools like numerical models due to their efficiency in estimating temporal and spatial fluxes. Nature of the local sediments - whether fully cohesive, non-cohesive or mixture of both - is a crucial factor in determining physical sedimentary processes. This is the reason why engineers, mathematicians, scientists and hydrologists have been conducting researches for a long time about the various factors affecting sediment transport. These vary from processes such as erosion, scour and deposition to applications of sediment process observations in transport modeling frameworks. Researchers specializing in transport of sediments and supporting issues have been continually conducting researches in applied sediment transport in various aquatic environments. The inferences and outcomes of these crucial researches have been included in this book.
