Edge-Cloud Generative AI in Mobile Networks

This book illuminates the transformative potential of the coming together of edge computing and generative AI in the mobile network space. Written for a dual readership with deep technical knowledge and senior strategic decision-makers, it addresses holistically the synergies of these two technologies to redefine the future of mobile communications. More broadly, it expands on how the symbiotic use of edge and cloud environments encourages innovative generative AI models. It then delves deep into how this symbiosis drives mobile networks toward an order of magnitude improvement in performance, efficiency, and intelligence. The objective of this book is focused on how edge-cloud generative AI will transform the mobile user experience to one of extreme personalization of recommendations and content delivery. It touches on important aspects of security and privacy, providing insights that can be extremely valuable for a sensitive consumer data protection approach in such dynamically changing environments. Further, this book elaborates on the complexity of Explainable AI enabling the reader to build trust in generative models and their ethical deployment. The audience gains insights into the methodologies of utilizing generative AI for network self-optimization and automation driving in-depth operational efficiencies. New applications are introduced by providing use cases, which range from highly improved augmented reality experiences to innovative mobile offerings. The final chapters provide adequate mechanisms for informed decision-making by giving extensive treatment on rigorous evaluation methodologies and benchmarking frameworks. This book focuses on the future vision regarding the transformational impact of edge-cloud generative AI on the mobile industry. Whether you are an experienced telecommunications professional, a data-driven innovator, or a strategic thinker, this book provides you with knowledge and tools to foreground the new opportunity coming from generative AI for edge-cloud settings and the next generation of mobile networks.

Provides an organized way to benchmark and compare edge-cloud generative AI systems Covers techniques on model compression, quantization, and acceleration in resource-constrained edge environments Discusses a state-of-the-art cryptographic techniques and privacy-preserving mechanisms
