Edgar Wallace (18751932) was a prolific British crime writer, journalist and playwright, with over 170 novels and 900+ short stories to his name. Despite a disadvantaged start, he became a war correspondent before writing popular detective thrillers. He wrote the initial screenplay for King Kong and over 160 films have been made out of his work.

Fiona Peters is Professor of Crime Fiction at Bath Spa University, UK. She has written extensively on Patricia Highsmith and has published widely on crime fiction generally. She is also the editor of Crime Fiction Studies journal, the Director of the International Crime Fiction Association and runs the Captivating Criminality conferences series.
