This book provides a critical insight into the law of rape, with particular emphasis on the Nigerian situation. It considers rape law from a comparative perspective, with a bird's eye view on the crime of rape under the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria, Criminal Code of Southern Nigeria, Sharia Penal Code of some Northern States in Nigeria and the Armed Forces Act which is a subsidiary Legislation applicable to officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces. The book further attempts a comparative assessment of rape under Nigerian Law, English Law, some International Instruments like Statute of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (SICTR), Statute of the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia (SICTY), Rome Statute of International Criminal Court (ICC), Vienna Declaration on Human Rights and Geneva Convention.
