The teaching of African literature has been the subject of debate in African universities and globally. Indeed the very term African Literature has been a bone of contention for the academic community for many decades in the last century. By bringing together researchers from literature and other related disciplines, Professor Chesaina aims at correcting the erroneous view that literature is a discipline in which a few individuals are masters of the art and therefore have the right to dominate.
