This book examines the Kurds' rise as new regional actors in the Middle East and the impact this is having on the regional order. Kurdish political activism has reached a new height in the beginning of the 21st Century with Kurdish movements in Iraq, Turkey and Syria establishing themselves as a significant force in the domestic politics of these states. Cengiz Gunes is Associate Lecturer at the Open University, UK. He is the author of The Kurdish National Movement in Turkey: From Protest to Resistance (2012) and co-editor of The Kurdish Question in Turkey: New Perspectives on Violence, Representation, and Reconciliation (2014). In addition, he has published a number of peer-reviewed journal articles and chapters in edited books on different aspects of Kurdish politics in the Middle East.
