Beschreibung

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Caloptilia populiella is a moth of the Gracillariidae family. It is known from British Columbia and the United States (Colorado). The larvae feed on Populus species, including Populus tremuloides. They mine the leaves of their host plant. The mine has the form of a small tentiform mine on the underside of the leaf. Later instars fold the leaf downwards. A moth is an insect closely related to the butterfly, both being of the order Lepidoptera. Moths form the majority of this order; there are thought to be 150,000 to 250,000 different species of moth (about ten times the number of species of butterfly), with thousands of species yet to be described.
