Gerhard Girmscheid, Jg. 1949, studierte Bauingenieurwesen in Darmstadt. Nach seiner Promotion 1983 war er in leitender Funktion für namhafte deutsche Bauunternehmen tätig. Seit 1996 ist er Professor für Baubetriebswissenschaften und Bauverfahrenstechnik am Institut für Bauplanung und Baubetrieb der ETH Zürich. Prof. Girmscheid ist Spezialist für Bauverfahren und Bauprozesse des Hoch- und Tiefbaus sowie strategisches und operatives Bauunternehmensmanagement. Er ist Mitherausgeber der Fachzeitschrift 'Bauingenieur' und Autor bzw. Mitautor mehrerer Fachbücher.
