This book studies and resolves the challenge of bridging the gap between higher education and the labor market arising from the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It unfolds and elucidates the understudied and previously unknown social nature of Industry 4.0, characterized by workers' dashed expectations regarding automation. Consequently, the book proposes a scientific-practical approach to social adaptation to Industry 4.0 through higher education.

The novelty of this approach lies in the fact that, instead of passively waiting, workers engage in flexible adaptation to evolving labor market conditions, while universities demonstrate increased flexibility in managing and modernizing educational programs. Prof. Dr. Elena G. Popkova, Doctor of Economics, is a Head of the "Scientometrics and International Ratings" Laboratory at Armenian State University of Economics (Yerevan, Armenia) and Research Professor at the Department of Finance and Banking at the Institute of Economics, Business and Management of Osh State University (Osh, Kyrgyzstan). She is the author of more than 300 publications in Scopus (h-index: 40). She is also editor of more than 50 books and a large number of special issues of international peer-reviewed scientific journals. She is a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Economic Policy in Emerging Economies and the International Journal for Quality Research.
