Protestant religious instruction and confirmation in Germany and in orthodox Sunday schools in Belarus - the most extensive religious teaching programmes available to young people - are systematically examined in this study. Historical developments are included as well as a detailed account of the religious and societal situations in both countries and a systematic analysis of the two denominations. Besides empirical data from existing studies, findings from a study of Sunday schools in Belarus are also included.
