This textbook provides an introduction to German Arthurian poetry in the High and Late Middle Ages. The main focus is on romances in rhyming couplets produced between 1180 and 1300. In addition, the appearance of the figure of Arthur and other members of the Round Table is traced in other Germanophone genres and contexts. The account ends in the Late Middle Ages with Ulrich Fetrer's Buch der Abenteuer and Maximilian I.'s Ambraser Heldenbuch.
