Volume 5/2 of the History of the German Book Trade in the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries predominantly addresses the publishing houses of the GDR. It thereby continues on from the first part of this three-part volume by describing literary publishing houses and the conditions of cultural policy from the beginning of the Soviet occupation period.
