This book presents in detail the circumstances that prevailed in the field of linguistic research during the National Socialist era. It documents over 300 individuals who were persecuted and driven into exile, and also describes the state of research in the discipline. Starting from this presentation, it outlines the development of linguistic research since the 19 th century.
