Scholars began to reflect about the social changes brought about by communication and mass media in the 20th century. This book relates conceptions of the sociology of communication drawn from the works of classical sociologists, including Max Weber, Ferdinand Tönnies, Ernst Mannheim, Jürgen Habermas, and Thomas Luckmann to contemporary problem areas. It includes an extensive discussion of the new concept of medialization.
