Amplification systems such as microphones and loudspeakers have fundamentally changed public speaking and its performance conditions. For the first time, this rhetorical study takes a closer look at these changes. It investigates the communicative setting and technologically transformed proxemics, along with the medium's influence on the perception of the speech and the implications for its persuasive impact.
