The textbook is an introduction to cognitive semantics as developed predominantly in North America, including both cognitive and anthropological aspects. The complex interplay between language and cognition is presented based on the example of spatial linguistics and spatial cognition. The author also presents recent research findings on the influence of language on cognition, applying both embodiment theory and perception-based approaches.
