The Iberian Peninsula links two oceans and thus, several continents of the world. This fact, too long overlooked by Romance language scholars, raises philological, aesthetic, and cultural questions that go beyond the confines of the 21 st century. The study suggests a new reading of the history Romance language scholarship and of 17 th century canonical texts.
