This book narrates the life and work of the Jewish social democrat and gay physician Magnus Hirschfeld (18681935), who launched the world's first emancipation movement for homosexuals at the end of the 19 th century. Hirschfeld was a pioneer in the field of sexology, and opened the first Institute of Sexology in Berlin after the First World War.
