What is the essence of comparative law, what are its functions and goals? The literal sense of the vocabulary comparative law implies that it is an intellectual precedence which, on the one hand, has to do with law and, on the other hand, has to do with comparison. This textbook introduces comparative law by distinguishing it from neighboring fields of jurisprudence such as private international law, international law, and legal history.
