The present thesis deals with the Portuguese civil law dogmatic in the field of property law and the question about the identity of Portuguese law and the law systems in Portuguese-speaking countries, like Brazil, Angola and Timor-Leste. Beginning with a historical introduction, the systematic context is discussed considering the issues of the development of a general property law doctrine for the Portuguese-speaking legal family, considering general principles of property law, the definition of coisa", the categories and protection of real rights."
