This study investigates the narrative construction and subversion of femininity in three tales from E.T.A. Hoffmann: Rath Krespel (1818), The Mystery of the Deserted House (1817), and The Vow (1817). Through its analysis, the study links the paradigm of intersectionality which originated primarily in sociological research with narratological approaches on unreliable and metafictional narratives.
