Kant's Metaphysical Elements of Justice (1797) made a contribution to the early modern philosophy of law and state. With regard to the normative principles of law and state, Kant developed a theory independent of experience, which is thus metaphysical. To mark the 300th anniversary of Immanuel Kant's birth, each article in the second edition has been revised and updated to reflect the latest research.
