In spite of its enormous significance for the development of German culture and society, hardly any research has been done on the Wirtschaftswunder as an independent period. Economic recovery and political stability influenced the production and reception of art, literature, film, and other media. This handbook surveys a wide range of works synchronously for the Wirtschaftswunder period and diachronically for the period that went after it.
