Does Germany need missile defense? There is no other section of the German Armed Forces that has lost so much personnel and so much firepower since 1989/90 as the Luftwaffe's anti-aircraft missile force, whose tasks currently include defense against ballistic missiles. At the end of the Cold War, Germany was surrounded by friends and allies. Why should the government invest in a capability that it no longer requires?
