This volume includes critical editions of the biographies and biographical notices written about Copernicus from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries, with German translations of the original texts in Latin, French, Italian and Polish. The second part provides a complete catalogue of all the early portraits and images of Copernicus, compiled and annotated by Gudula Metze.This lists all known visual representations of Copernicus from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries and supersedes all earlier publications on Copernican iconography.

Dieser Band enthält kritische Editionen aller Copernicus-Biographien und biographischen Texte des 16. bis 18. Jahrhunderts mit deutschen Übersetzungen der lateinischen, französischen, italienischen und polnischen Originaltexte. Der zweite Teil des Bandes ist ein von Gudula Metze verfasster und kommentierter Katalog der frühen Copernicus-Bildnisse. Dieser Katalog, der sowohl quantitativ als auch qualitativ weit über alle bisherigen Publikationen zur Copernicus-Ikonographie hinausgeht, umfasst alle bekannten bildlichen Darstellungen von Copernicus vom 16. bis zum 18. Jahrhundert.
