At the "Lord God's Chancery" the Antichrist came to a stop. This is how the Protestant theologians who had fled to Magdeburg interpreted the resistance of the city against the Augsburg Interim and the articles presented at the Diet of Leipzig. They perceived the Emperor, the Empire and the theologians in electoral Saxony as servants of the Antichrist and as false prophets against whose attacks Luther's work and legacy had to be preserved.

Zusammenfassung
An des 'Herrgotts Kanzlei' kam der Antichrist zum Stehen. So deuteten die nach Magdeburg geflüchteten protestantischen Geistlichen den Widerstand der Stadt gegen das Augsburger Interim und die Leipziger Landtagsvorlage. Kaiser, Reich und die kursächsischen Theologen erschienen ihnen als Diener des Antichrist und falsche Propheten, vor deren Angriffen es das Werk und Erbe Luthers zu bewahren galt.
Anja Moritz untersucht die Aspekte und Wirkungen der apokalyptischen Deutung in den zwischen 1548 und 1552 publizierten Magdeburger Druckschriften. Vor dem Hintergrund der religiösen Vereinheitlichungsversuche seit 1530 stellt sie die Reaktionen auf das Interim im Reich und die politischen Ereignisse in und um Magdeburg dar. Herausgearbeitet werden dabei die verschiedenen Modi sowohl der Wahrnehmung des Interimsgeschehens als auch der Konstruktion von Feind- und Selbstbildern seitens der Exules.
