This volume presents the first critical edition of the anonymous world chronicle titled Chronica which gives a condensed account of events from Adam up to the death of the Byzantine Emperor Alexios I Komnenos (ruled 10811118). The introduction includes a discussion of the relationship of the Chronica to the Synopsis chronike of Theodoros Skutariotes (13th century), and the Chronica is shown to be a preliminary by Theodoros to the Synopsis chronike .
