Based on modern methods on social memory taken from cultural studies the author of this volume presents a model for reading Biblical texts as collective memories, the example here being the Gospel of Mark.Based on modern methods on social memory taken from cultural studies the author of this volume presents a model for reading Biblical texts as collective memories, the example here being the Gospel of Mark. This Gospel is shown to be a text that derives from collective narrative memory based on recollections of Jesus´ life and teachings. This volume foremost serves to stimulate discussion about the methods employed in studies of the Gospel of Mark as well as presenting a contribution to ongoing interdisciplinary Biblical research.

PD Dr. Sandra Hübenthal ist Privatdozentin an der Katholisch-Theologischen Fakultät der Universität Tübingen und lehrte in den vergangenen Jahren an den Universitäten Basel, Franfurt, Köln, Saarbrücken, der RWTH Aachen sowie der Hochschule Sankt Georgen. Derzeit hat sie eine Lehrvertretung an der University of St. Andrews inne.
