Horváth established his reputation as an anti-fascist writer and achieved international fame with his novel Jugend ohne Gott (published in English as The Age of the Fish ). This study reveals the genesis of the novel from its two precursors, Der Lenz ist da! ( Spring is Here! ) and Auf der Suche nach den Idealen der Menschheit ( In Search of the Ideals of Humanity ).
