Mit 14 Jahren Eintritt als erster Mitarbeiter und Lehrling in das von seinem Vater Adolf Würth 1945 gegründete Unternehmen, eine Großhandelsfirma für Schrauben und Muttern, die heutige Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG. 1954 Übernahme des Familienbetriebs im Alter von nur 19 Jahren nach dem frühen Tod des Vaters. Abschluss des ersten Geschäftsjahrs unter seiner Leitung mit einem Jahresumsatz von rund 80 000 Euro. »Ich wollte schon immer wissen, was hinterm Berg und ums Eck ist« das Zitat von Prof. Dr. h. c. mult.
