Beate Becker wurde 1969 in Frankfurt a.M. geboren. Sie studierte Romanistik, Germanistik und Philosophie an der Universität Bonn, wo sie auch Annette Antoine kennenlernte. Nach einem Studienjahr am Institut von Umberto Eco in Bologna (Italien) beendete sie ihr Studium mit dem Magister. Um ihre Liebe zu Literatur und Kunst zu verbinden, machte sie sich als Illustratorin für Schul- und Kinderbücher selbständig. Sie lebt mit ihrem Mann und ihren zwei Kindern in Xanten und arbeitet als Montessori-Lehrerin an einem Gymnasium in Kleve.
