This book provides an insight into how corporate governance functioned in German companies in the second half of the nineteenth and the first half of the twentieth century. Taking a microeconomic perspective, it examines the impact that legal norms had on the organizational structure of and financial decisions made by companies. Special attention is paid to four corporations: Deutsche Bank, BHG, AEG, and Siemens.
