Music And Instrumentation In Yoruba Festival Drama

This book researches into the indigenous life of the people especially their culture and traditional settings. Awon Shao mass wedding is an annual events where all the marriageable ladies are given out to their suitors. The ceremony does festivize and celebrates life in the community because it is attended by 'who is who', sons and daughters home and abroad. The place and function of Music and Instrumentation in the festival serves as the umbilical cord that ties all the activities together. The book examines the type of music and instrumentation, the performer, the place of performance, the architecture of such instruments in an interplay within a community festival. The pace, mood, setting, tempo and unresisted melody is provided by the contest that is orchestrated between the performer and his instruments in the arena of performance.
