Auteur

Prof. (Dr.) Kaushik Pal is an Indian citizen. He is a former Distinguished Research Professor at Universidade do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Most recently, he achieved Honorìs Causa Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) award from Ministry of Education, Govt. of Malaysia at Selangor Higher National Youth Skills Institute (IKTBN), Sepang, in 2020. He served as a visiting professor at School of Energy Materials, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala as and a full-time research professor in the Department of Nanotechnology at Bharath University (BIHER). He completed his Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD) in Physics (Expt. Materials Science and Nanotechnology) from University of Kalyani. Dr. Tean Zaheer earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Pakistan. She pursued an MPhil in molecular parasitology from the same institution. She has been working on alternative control options for disease vectors and vector-borne pathogens of animal, human, and those of zoonotic concern. Currently, she is working as a technical editor to the largest veterinary periodical in Pakstan: The Veterinary News and Views.

Nanomaterials in the Battle Against Pathogens and Disease Vectors presents an overview of the use of nanotechnology to mitigate pathogens of concern, and is the first book to discuss applications of nanotechnology in the fight against all three major domains of disease-causing pathogens.

Bacteria, viruses, and parasites constitute the list of emerging and re-emerging pathogens of high priority. Nanotechnology has proven to be a groundbreaking success in the elimination, targeted toxicity, precise immunogenicity, diagnosis, and imaging of these major pathogens and disease vectors. This text discusses basic concepts and advanced applications for bacteria, viruses, and parasites. It describes the use of metallic and non-metallic nanoparticles and nanotoxicity, as well as presents future applications of nanotechnology in biological applications.
