Evidence-based Policy and Practice in Mental Health Social Work

Mental health social workers work within multidisciplinary teams, often based in health settings. The variety of services they work within are shaped by mental health policy that is increasingly being influenced by research evidence of 'what works'. This fully-revised second edition has a new chapter on systematic reviews and greater coverage of the impact of the 2007 amendment to Mental Health Act 1983 on mental health practitioners and services.

Auteur

Martin Webber is Programme Leader of the MSc in Mental Health Social Work with Children & Adults at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London. This is a post-qualifying course for experienced social workers who wish to acquire research training and become advanced practitioners. He came to the Institute of Psychiatry in 2002 as a Social Science Fellow to undertake an MSc in Health Services Research and PhD research on the role of social capital on recovery from depression. He is a qualified social worker and has worked as an Approved Social Worker in a community mental health team in the Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames.
