Vorwort An essential and personal primer on the global energy system that powers our world, from an engineer on a journey to find a cleaner future. Zusammenfassung Energy underpins all our lives. We expect hot water and lighting at the flick of a switch, underestimating the complex series of events that makes these things possible. But there is a vast global network of power stations, gas pipelines, transmission cables, and engineers, quietly working behind the scenes. In Power Up engineer Yasmin Ali takes us on a deeply personal journey around the world to show us the entire picture, from underwater pipelines being welded together, across acres of solar panels shimmering in the desert, to the colossal ships moving natural gas around the oceans. We discover the raw resources we can harness, how we move energy around the globe, and how we use it in our everyday lives, from the buildings we live in to the food we eat.
