Michael C. McKenna, PhD, Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education, Curry School of Education, University of Virginia USA, is Thomas G. Jewell Professor of Reading at the University of Virginia. He has published 15 books and more than 100 articles, chapters, and technical reports on a range of literacy topics. His coedited volume Handbook of Literacy and Technology received the Edward Fry Book Award from the National Reading Conference and was named an Outstanding Academic Book by Choice. Dr. McKenna currently works extensively with literacy coaches in Georgia and Virginia. Sharon Walpole, PhD, School of Education, University of Delaware, USA, is Associate Professor of Reading at the University of Delaware. Her research interests include the design and effects of schoolwide reforms, particularly those involving literacy coaches. Dr. Walpole is coauthor of two previous books with Michael C. McKenna, as well as numerous journal articles. She is the recipient of an Early Career Award from the National Reading Conference for her significant contributions to literacy research and education.
