This study examines a hypothesised relation between an instructional material of instrumental music education and a learning theory as this could occur in the wider educational psychology and music practice research framework. Otakar Sevcík's violin methodology and Gagné's learning theory are employed as the two basic elements of investigation, and their impact on the learning process and development of students is explored through an experiment. Findings present an active link between the two of them, and further suggest a psychological effect of the instructional material on the final music product.
