Strap Taping for Sports and Rehabilitation is an excellent teaching reference for physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, athletic trainers, and students and faculty in these fields. Any health care professional or layperson (e.g., coach, athlete) will also benefit from this material, when there has been a proper assessment of an injury and the taping application is under the direction of a trained professional. The text combines both physical therapy taping techniques and modified athletic training taping techniques used on all body areas into one easy-to-use reference guide, and the tape application is also demonstrated on the accompanying DVD. In addition to an explanation of taping techniques, the text includes pictures of useful surface anatomical references and landmarks, functional range of motion reviews, current evidence supporting the efficacy of taping, screenings used to determine the appropriate taping technique to apply, braces that can simulate or be a substitute for taping if need be, and sequential photos demonstrating the techniques. The rationale used for taping for various injuries and diagnoses in each chapter as well as case studies to illustrate patient and therapist experiences in which the taping was effective are also provided.
