Global perspectives on trans and gender diverse healthcare predominantly written from lived trans experiences.

Around the world trans and gender diverse people are marginalized and discriminated against in medical, psychological, and nursing care. This anthology is the first to address the current situation of this population in various global healthcare settings. The perspectives from 11 different countries give insight into the difficult experiences of the trans and gender diverse community when seeking healthcare, and how self-organized community structures can help to overcome barriers to often inaccessible public healthcare systems. The majority of contributions are written from a lived trans and gender diverse perspective.

Max Nicolai Appenroth (M.A.), geb. 1986, promoviert am Institut für Public Health der Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin zum Zugang zur medizinischen Versorgung von trans Personen. Er lehrt und doziert im In- und Ausland und setzt sich auf (inter-)nationaler Ebene für die Rechte von trans Menschen ein.María do Mar Castro Varela ist Diplom-Psychologin, Diplom-Pädagogin und promovierte Politikwissenschaftlerin. Sie ist Professorin für Allgemeine Pädagogik und Soziale Arbeit mit Schwerpunkt Gender und Queer Studies an der Alice Salomon Hochschule Berlin. 2023 erhielt sie ein Fellowship des Thomas Mann Hauses in Los Angeles.
