What really happens when the people around the boardroom table are also parents, children, siblings, cousins, husbands and wives?

For 106 years, four generations of Dani Saveker's family owned and ran a manufacturing business. She was born into it, grew up around it, joined it, eventually led it as the fourth generation and, in 2009, was there when it ended.

Only in a Family Business... tells the true stories of what happened along the way: the decisions that made perfect sense at the time, the rules nobody wrote down, the conversations that never happened, and the funny, painful and sometimes absurd moments that occur when business and family collide.

But beneath the family-business setting is something much more universal: the human side of every business.

Through 60 short, candid stories, Dani explores identity, loyalty, belonging, expectation, responsibility, relationships, leadership, loss and change. They are stories for anyone who has been born into a family business, married into one, inherited one, worked in one or advised one, but also for anyone who has experienced the complicated reality of working with other people.

Because behind every strategy, structure and set of numbers are human beings.

And sometimes the things that make a business strongest are the very things that make it most complicated.

This isn't a book about how to run a family business. It's about what it feels like to be inside one.

And perhaps the most powerful response it can produce is also the simplest:

"I thought that was just us."
