This book engages with the shifting legal terrain of the European Union in light of recent advances in generative Artificial Intelligence. It questions whether current intellectual property regimes remain adequate and considers the legal implications of using data as a form of remuneration in digital creative markets. Consumer protection is examined through a fresh lens, particularly where AI systems influence contracts, choices, or vulnerabilities. The discussion includes early insights into proposals on AI liability and considers the risks facing users in increasingly automated environments. Legal responses to cybercrime and digital surveillance are also discussed, including the place of interception measures and the admissibility of electronic evidence. Tatiana Synodinou is a leading scholar in the field of EU Copyright law. She is Professor at the Law Department of the University of Cyprus and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs. She is a founding member and President of the Cypriot branch of ALAI the Union of Copyright Law of Cyprus (EDPI) and member of the European Copyright Society. Her research interests also include Internet law, Media law and Computer law.

Philippe Jougleux is a Professor at the Law School of the European University Cyprus, where he teaches Cypriot torts law, contract law, EU copyright law, and EU Internet law. He has authored numerous articles in French, Greek, and English, primarily focusing on topics related to the regulation of new technologies, such as online copyright law, data protection, regulation of AI, and cybercrime. Additionally, he has published several monographs in Greek covering various topics, including 'Elements of Cypriot Law of Obligations,' 'Civil Liability of the State in Cyprus,' 'European Law of the Internet,' and 'European Law of Intellectual Property.

Christiana Markou is an expert in the field of GDPR, Internet law (cybersecurity, intermediaries' liability, online consumer protection) as well as private international law. She is an Associate Professor at the School of Law of European University Cyprus and a lawyer at the Nicosia Bar Association.

Thalia Prastitou-Merdi is a specialist of EU comparative contract law, with emphasis on digital contracts legal framework and online consumer protection. She works as an Assistant Professor at the School of Law of European University Cyprus.
