David C Jaundrell lives in Shropshire, England.
David started writing early, a short play, when, at seventeen, he was hospitalised with a broken arm. The play was accidentally left there, never to be seen again.
A few years later he started his first company and, at one point, found himself selling in Baghdad when Saddam Hussein was at war with Iran. An almost surreal experience; a quiet, orderly, crime free society, which conversely is also at war with its neighbour Iran and ruled by one of the most ruthless Dictators in recent times.
It also, although he didn't know it at the time, had echoes of his past. He had no memories of the first fifteen years of his life, having suffered so much horrific abuse and pain that his mind, to help him survive, had found a way to shut it out very early on....
In the mid eighties he wrote his first book 'How's Business?', a 125,000 word semi-satirical novel about business. That stayed on the computer while life took over and he packed himself off to University to do an MBA and then back to business life.
In his late fifties he sold his share in a business and fairly quickly had an offer to run another company. Two weeks into the job David went home for lunch and never went back.
He decided to stop working entirely and within weeks was writing 'When Hell is the favourable option'; the first book in the H series of thrillers. It was born out of a short story that had been in his head for years, hardly a page of writing, but it proved the genesis for H. Coincidentally the 'hero' 'H', (the nickname for James James), also started life rather badly.....
And so, with nothing but a short story about a card game gone wrong, David started writing. He had no idea of a start, middle or end; just sat down and wrote whatever came into his head. No notes, no crib cards, nothing....
At the completion of 'When hell is the favourable option' David realised there was another book to write but it had to be much wider in concept. And so the next book 'Make your choice....now!', generally referred to as H2 in the H series of thrillers, started within a week and was a radical departure.
The same theme but a change in style to allow the 'wider concept' to materialise.
Still a thriller, still a thriller about H, but now a new vehicle to allow his imagination more freedom. And to tap his subconscious for unspoken, forbidden themes.
The third in the H series 'Sorry...wrong choice' took the 'other things' even farther, creating a type of thriller not really seen before. It was almost a book of thrillers within a thriller, which the readers took to avidly.
These were becoming the ultimate in 'page turners'. If you wanted chapters about the texture of the sky, or the decor inside a room, these were not for you. If you wanted to be 'on the edge' they were a must. Such was their addictive quality that people often read all six 'H's' on holiday!
'Bye..' or H4 as it was known, continued on the path that H3 was pioneering, resulting in, among others colourful characters, 'King Bongo Bongo'. It had become something of a ritual with the readers to try and work out who or what some of the characters were and what fate would befall them... King Bongo Bongo also fooled them.
'I thought you'd gone...?' or H5 in the H series of thrillers went even farther, taking the reader into a world where many fear to tread.
And H6 'Well....as you're here' became a classic in its dynamic treatment of a family festering with betrayal.
And the unbelievable portrayal of Beatrice......'They won't introduce me so I may as well introduce myself. I am Beatrice....... and I am blind and mute but I can hear. And my 'sense' is quite good. I'm not complaining; that's the way it is......'
And H7, which is being written..........
